Privacy policy

Taxi Akaa respects your privacy. This policy describes how we handle personal data and cookies in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Finnish Data Protection Act.

Updated 10 May 2026

1. Data controller

JV Rent (Taxi Akaa). Business ID (Y-tunnus): 2548669-2. Contact: Jani Valtajärvi. Address: Ilveskuja 1, 01900 Nurmijärvi, Finland. Customer service: 050 1866. Privacy enquiries: janivaltajarvi@icloud.com.

2. Lawful basis for processing

We process your personal data under GDPR Article 6 on the following grounds: (a) performance of a contract — we need your name, phone number and pickup to deliver the ride; (b) legitimate interest — operating a local taxi service and ensuring service quality; (c) legal obligation — bookkeeping and statutory requirements.

3. What data we collect

We process only the information you provide during a booking or call: name, phone number, pickup, destination, time and any special requests (e.g. pet, child seat). The website itself does not collect personal data: we do not run analytics, advertising trackers or third-party pixels.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use only strictly-necessary cookies, which under EU ePrivacy rules do not require consent. The values used are: NEXT_LOCALE (language preference, session only), taxiakaa-cookie-ack (cookie-notice acknowledgement, local storage), taxiakaa-install-dismissed (install banner dismissal state, local storage). We do not use any advertising, tracking or analytics cookies. You can clear cookies any time in your browser settings.

5. Retention period

Booking data is kept only as long as needed to deliver the ride, at most 6 months from the booking, unless a statutory obligation (e.g. accounting law) requires longer retention. Stored enquiries are deleted when the original processing purpose ends.

6. Sharing and transfers

We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing. Data is shared only to deliver the ride: with the partner driver, to the extent required to perform the pickup. The website is hosted on Vercel (EU-region servers, standard contractual clauses). Email is handled by our email provider (to be added if applicable).

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the rights to: (a) access your data, (b) correct inaccurate data, (c) erase your data, (d) restrict processing, (e) object to processing, (f) data portability, (g) withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights call 050 1866 or email us.

8. Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe we are processing your personal data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman, Lintulahdenkuja 4, 00530 Helsinki, Finland. tietosuoja.fi

9. Security

We protect personal data using reasonable technical and organisational measures. The connection to the website is always encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). Only authorised personnel handle customer data, solely to deliver the service.

10. Changes

We may update this policy, e.g. when legislation changes or when our service evolves. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. The last-updated date appears at the top of this page.
